The idea of bringing Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated to the University of California, Santa Barbara campus began in the spring of 2004 when a group of strong and independent women came together, believing there was a need to establish an organization that would cater to the needs of Latina women.

After doing much research, they believed that Lambda Theta Alpha was an organization that emphasized Unity, Love, and Respect, three principles they felt would bring union to our campus. The first meeting of what would become the Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha took place during the last few weeks of spring quarter 2004. These scholarly women, composed of different backgrounds were drawn together through one main purpose: seeking a sorority that would not only stress the fundamentals of academics, activism, social awareness, and community involvement, but also foster an eternal sisterhood. Through much researching and discussions the path became clear: Lambda Theta Alpha was the only way to fulfill this vision.

Since the initial articulation of this concept, the Interest Group expanded and developed. In the beginning, many undermined the accomplishments its members sought to achieve. The Interested Ladies maintained their hope to one day become sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Incorporated. They believed that the principles it upholds, along with the networking and community it brings, would be something that our University campus would benefit from. It was a rough road for the Interested Ladies throughout the two years of trying to establish Lambda Theta Alpha. No one anticipated the strong character this organization would come to possess. Nor all the community, academic, and social assets it would provide to the Santa Barbara area. Throughout the two years, this dedicated group of women demonstrated their genuine interest in the organization.

In the Spring of 2006 the University of California, Santa Barbara witnessed the foundation of Lambda

Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated Delta Theta Chapter. Since the beggining our organization

has cater to the campus and the community by holding various outreach programs and bringing

awareness of different subjects. Delta Theta Chapter has been on campus for 11 years and is a

proud member of the HBLGC council at UCSB.
